SEGRETO vignettes

segreto vignette clothandpatina1

Look at what came in the mail today! I have been anxiously waiting for this book all week! I am so unbelievably honored to be reviewing Leslie Sinclair’s newest book, “Segreto Vignettes”. While I absolutely adore her two previous books, (Segreto and Segreto Finishes), this one is my most favorite.

Here is a quick peek at what Leslie has included in this gorgeous book. You can see from the contents page that this book covers it all (well practically). I completely agree with her when she says this book is an invaluable guide to the world of creative finishes. There are thousands of ideas, all beautifully photographed. These pages come to life in this stunning collection of rooms all adorned with finishes by Segreto. As you can see from the “contents page”, she covers so many different aspects of design.

I stumbled on Leslie’s work many years ago when I was swooning over a finish on some beautiful woodwork and have been following her ever since. You all know how much I absolutely love a beautiful weathered finish and she is definitely the truest talent to just that.

Look at this “before and after” photo of these most beautiful ceiling beams! I am always in awe of how she can transform a newer piece of wood into the most elegant weathered finish. This book is filled room after room of the most inspiring finishes.

Leslie is known in the industry as one of the best of the best in the world of interiors, and for good reason. She works with so many talented designers, artists and photographers and many of them have contributed to this beautiful book.

Just look at this kitchen! The cabinetry and beams are gorgeous and really bring this whole room to a new level.

I honestly had a hard time as to what photos to share with you all, seriously. It literally is page after page of beautiful rooms, finishes and techniques. This is way more than just a book filled with gorgeous photos (that wouldn’t be a bad thing), but this is so much more. Leslie covers “finishing trends” on furniture, walls, lighting and tile. There is even a section on “disguising TV’s”. This is huge for me! I think a TV can ruin the look of a room and this book includes so many beautiful ways to hide them.

This book guides you room through room with one inspiring page after the other. I am swooning over this bathroom. Every little aspect of it is so beautiful.

You know I love a soft neutral palette and Leslie tends to stay in these tones, which makes me love her work all the more.

There’s even a section on “styling with slipcovers” and “painting on fabric”, both are things I love.

segreto vignette clothandpatina 13How inspiring is this work space? “Stenciled floors” and “finishes” are just another area Leslie covers.

segreto vignette clothandpatina 0Simply stunning & inspiring! Every little detail about this. The details in this book are amazing.

segreto vignette clothandpatina 14 Whether looking for inspiration for your own home or business, this book is a must-have if you are interested in design on any level. (actually, all three of Leslie’s books are). You will NOT be disappointed – it is a visual masterpiece that you will refer to over and over again. Over 325 pages of beautiful, gorgeous color photos. It’s simply a book you will love.

Here is how you can buy any of the books.

Softer Side of Winter…

arhaus living roomWell it’s been way too long since I’ve shared with you all here! It’s a new year, with new goals and new dreams of cozy spaces! As much as I love decorating for the holidays, there is something truly inspiring about clearing it all away and starting with a blank slate especially at the beginning of a new year.

In south Florida, we don’t experience a true Winter, but we still have our share of colder days, gloomy skies and lots of wind. And even though there isn’t snow on the ground outside, I still like to decorate like there is. (or at least the Florida version).

I recently visited Arhaus, and if you have never been, I highly recommend you stop in. Seriously so much to love! I’ve been gathering some decor ideas for our home and think this space is just prefect for the lighter side of Winter. Warm whites, a few fur accents, a chunky knit blanket and a few candles for a super cozy space. So much to swoon over.

arhaus fur throw

The time of year I love to bring in the softer textures of cozy wool throws and chunky knits. Couldn’t you just see yourself wrapped up in this one!?! A good cuppa, a great book, a cozy fire (or candles) and I know I’d be set. I always like to start with a white palette and depending upon the time of year will bring in additional neutral shades. Winter time for me is the perfect time to incorporate soft shades of grey, taupe and gold accents.

arhaus slipcovered sofa

My favorite go to…a beautiful slip covered sofa. I’ve had my sofa and chair for many years now and believe it or not, the white is easier to maintain than you think. Kids, dog, cat and all.  Comfortable, casual elegance is what I am always going for and for me this works for my home. Any accent pillow or throw I add to it pops against the white and just looks so pretty.

arhaus crown accent pillow

I love a little sparkle especially in the Winter months where even down south we have plenty of gloomy days. A little shimmer here and there can really brighten up a space. I love, love this charming accent pillow!

arhaus bed linenMy two favorite places to cozy up in, the living room and the bedroom. So loving this bedding with just the right amount of ruffle (for me anyway). I’d add a pretty fur throw blanket ( like the yummy one above) to the mix for a bit more warmth and a cozier feel. It might make it a bit more difficult to pull myself out of bed each morning though.

arhaus weathered chest

Seriously beautiful and so loving this gorgeous finish. I love that it’s a great size with simple but charming accents.

arhaus linen chair

Put this gorgeous chair near a sunny window with a warm blanket…yes please!

arhaus wall sconce

So beautiful! Just the right amount of glamour and sparkle to a soft neutral space.

Lucrezia Iron Wall Sconce

arhaus rugI tend to add a lightly patterned area rug and keep my bedding simple. A few accent pillows and pretty decor pieces around the room are all I need.

arhaus mirrorMirrors and “lighting“ are like the jewelry pieces to the room and this one is drop dead gorgeous! The details on this one are so pretty with a light feminine feel.

arhaus bedroomWhat are your go tos for the Winter months? I guess it all depends on where we live and what the weather brings. I think no matter where I may live though, I will always keep things simple. A few natural elements, warm throw blankets, cozy lighting and a bit of sparkle.

I hope this inspired you to lighten things up a bit. Even in the colder months we can still enjoy the softer side of Winter. I’d just love to hear how you decorate for the Winter months! Feel free to stop in and share your ideas.

Thanks so much for stopping in!

Segreto Style…New Inspiration

I am so happy to be featuring Leslie Sinclair’s new book…”Segreto Style”

Leslie is the creator and owner behind Segreto Finishes, the Houston based company that specializes in custom paint finishes for walls, cabinetry, floors and furniture. Leslie’s first book, “Segreto Secrets to Finishing Beautiful Interiors,” was launched just a few years ago and has been an absolute favorite of mine. I’ve browsed this book many many times for inspiration.

Exposed Brick Beauties

ac10eef591a534cfcabe6558ac828b0bI have always loved the beauty of exposed brick in pretty much every room and have been obsessing over it so much lately that I thought I should do a post on a few gorgeous spaces. I mean look at this most gorgeous bathroom. I always wonder if I would be able to paint over exposed brick, but have to say it was the right choice here. This white bathroom is serene and elegant. Merry Christmas

1a

Just wanted to share a few pictures of my home for the holidays. Life kinda got in the way this year and I didn’t get to decorate as much as I wanted, but am happy with how everything turned out. I stayed pretty simple, but elegant. Here is a picture of my bedroom with some simple evergreen and a few of those little flower ornaments I was talking to you all about earlier.

2a

A simple tree that I added to a weathered urn. Added a bit of torn linen and one of those fabric scrip ornaments that I chased all over town for. I added a few of my vintage rhinestone brooches to the tree for a bit of sparkle.

3aI carried the same style over to the livingroom. Some evergreen, a few rhinestone here and there and a few of my paper mache trees I made last year.

4aI am in love with these spools of ribbon I found at Marshalls this year. I couldn’t help myself this year. I normally only buy handmade ornaments and pretties or make them myself, but there were really some pretty pieces this year.

6aI had to put up those little flowers everywhere I could.

8a

Here is the table that I have been working on. Still a work in progress, but have been having fun experimenting with the chalk paint® by Annie Sloan. I will go into more details later on the colors I used. I know I am going to be quite hooked and can’t wait until after the holidays when I have more time to play with the this.

12a

This grey piece came from the Maxwell House hotel in Nashville, TN. from way back when. It is the top portion to the writing desk that’s in my bedroom. I found it off of craigslist from an older couple just a bit north of here. It was a medium colored wood, but just had to add a grey wash to it. 10aI found these charming little burlap and linen stockings that I am going to add some vintage rhinestones to.

13aI am just so excited for Christmas this year. Me and my kids drove over to the other coast over the weekend to surprise my mom. That truly was one of the best Christmas presents for all of us. I’ve been trying to slow down a bit this year so I can enjoy all the little things the holidays has to bring. Hoping you are able to do the same. Well hoping you enjoyed a little peek into my home. I look forward to sharing more with you soon.

I am wishing you all a Christmas filled with love and laughter. Hoping you are able to spend the day with the ones you love, if not, take the time to yourself and enjoy.

Merry Christmas from my family to yours.
